The following checklist includes the essential documents required for an Italy Study Visa application in 2026. Ensure that all documents are complete, accurate, and submitted according to the latest guidelines issued by the Italian Embassy, Consulate, and VFS Global.

1. Passport	i) Passport/Travel Document must be issued within the previous 10 years, and the validity must not exceed 10 years.

2. Visa Application Form	i) Application form duly filled and signed (in case of minors, to be signed by both parents).

3. Proof of Admission to the Study Program in Italy	i) Admission letter (required only for those courses not present on the UNIVERSITALY portal).
	ii) Two copies of pre-enrolment Summary downloaded from the official UNIVERSITALY portal (if required by the Italian Higher Education Institution).
	iii) Receipt of payment of enrolment fees (the payment must be visible on the submitted bank statements).
4. Proof of Education	i) Final Degree/Final School Certificate duly attested by the competent State HED (Higher Education Department) and apostilled. Original/one Apostilled color copy must be submitted.
	ii) Transcript/Marksheet duly attested by the competent State HED and apostilled. Original and one color copy must be submitted.
	iii) IMPORTANT: Attestation by Sub-divisional Magistrate (SDM) is not accepted. Provisional certificates of study officially issued by the relevant Institution, duly attested by HRD and apostilled, will be accepted for submitting visa application. Original must be submitted after issuance.
	iv) One of the following documents (if required by the Italian Higher Education Institution): a) Copy of CIMEA Certificate Statements of Comparability and Verification-CIMEA b) Copy of Declaration of Value (DOV - already issued by an Italian Diplomatic Mission).
	v) Applicant’s CV.
5. Proof of Economic Background and Financial Support	i) Proof of means of financial support of not less than 10179.85 €.
	ii) 6 months original bank statement of applicant stamped and signed by branch manager.
	iii) Documents proving applicant’s source of income (employment/business activity, ITR for last 2 years, family income certificate downloaded from official State Government portals, Educational loan, etc.).
	iv) In case of scholarship from Italian Government: Proof of scholarship in original. Where the amount of the scholarship does not satisfy the minimum amount established by law, the availability can be proven through other financial means listed above and below.
	v) If financially supported by a sponsor: • 6 months original bank statement of applicant’s Sponsor (along with the original bank statement of the applicant) • Sponsor ID proof and sponsorship letter • Documents proving sponsor’s source of income (employment/business activity, ITR for last 2 years, family income certificate downloaded from official State Government portals, etc.)
	vi) In case of any discrepancy in the applicant’s name (or the sponsor’s name) between the passport and any of the other documents, a “One and the Same” certificate, duly attested and apostilled, must be submitted.
6. Overseas Medical Insurance	Medical Insurance: to be chosen from a range of Schengen-compliant Travel Medical Insurance or one Italian Insurance Company, without limitation in case of urgent hospital assistance, valid for at least one year OR the entire duration of the study programme pursued in Italy, if less than one year.
7. Flight Tickets	i) Confirmed one-way ticket reservations (PNR/booking reference number will be verified) AND sufficient funds on top of the minimum required proof of financial support mentioned above. Valid for long stay study visa.

8. Accommodation	i) Adequate proof of boarding and lodging in Italy for at least 30 days: hotel booking OR home rent agreement OR accommodation provided by University/Institute (with signed contracts).

9. Language	i) B2-level English certification, if the course is taught in English (BRITISH INSTITUTES, CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY PRESS & ASSESSMENT, EDUCATIONAL TESTING SERVICE (ETS), PEARSON EDUCATION LIMITED, TRINITY COLLEGE LONDON) OR equivalent Medium of Education (MOI) declaration by the previous Higher Education Institution.
9. Language	ii) B2-level Italian certification, if the course is taught in Italian.
10. Covering Letter (Recommended)	Statement of purpose (max 1 page) clarifying reasons for choice of course and Italian Higher Education Institution, means of financial support, scholarship (if applicable), and intended accommodation.
