Why are Indian students choosing IT, Pharma, and Fashion courses in Europe?
Yesterday, something happened which marks an immense moment in our more-than-a-decade-long journey - India Today, one of India's biggest and most relevant platforms with more than 17 million unique monthly page views, featured a conversation they had with our business director, Mr. Bhargav Modi.
This all happened really fast - they had reached out to us to understand the phenomena of more and more students heading to European universities, particularly for courses in sectors such as fashion, technology and pharmaceuticals. Owing to more than a decade's worth of experience in the spectrum of European higher education, he spoke at length about what's driving this phenomena and offer his views with regards to future trends in terms of Indian student influx.
Throughout the feature, he spoke at length as to how the increasing interest in pursuing degrees in Europe is quite strategic on the student's part - for example, when students opt-in for degree programs in Luxury, Branding, or Fashion in France or Italy, they are positioning themselves to enter the highly-lucrative fashion industry, of which these countries are hubs.
Similarly, with fields tied to Industry 4.0 quickly emerging owing to growing industry demand, many universities are able to provide world-class education in these sectors without charging a bomb in tuition fees or posing hindrances or hurdles in the form of IELTS or complicated visa processes.
In the long term, the shift will be cemented by way of the fact that Europe themselves want more and more Indian students to come and contribute to their top-notch education landscape, as evidenced by instances such as French President Emmanuel Macron setting a goal of hosting 30,000 students in France by 2030. This is a massive signal of intent on their part, and more countries will follow suit. We are living in an age of diverse options.
He also spoke about how easy it is to access an education in Europe these days - there are dedicated platforms making accomodation easy, a network of students already exists amongst fellow Indians who've made the move, and education consultants have in-house experts that help students with the paperwork and runaround involved in applying for a visa. They ensure that all visas are filed properly, in a timely manner, and students do not have to bear the hassle of dealing with any bottlenecks on this front.
